Tournament Rules

For Revco (reverse-coed) tournaments only:

  1. Only Women can block on the net.

  2. Men cannot hit in front of the 10’ line. In front of the 10’ line, their hand cannot go above the tape.

For all Tournaments:

  1. Either “Rally scoring” OR “Side-out scoring” will be used.

  2. Points per set (game) will vary depending on pool size.

  3. Net touches are loss of point.

  4. No open-hand "tips"

  5. No open hand receive unless it’s a hard driven ball.

  6. A hard-driven ball (downward trajectory) may be defensively played in any manner, as long as the action is not a lift (i.e. double hits allowed, including actions with open hands/fingers).

  7. No pushing the ball over the net.

  8. Directional blocks are legal.

  9. Players do not have to "rotate" positions on the court, but they must rotate the server.

  10. Teams will be placed randomly in pools.

  11. Top teams in pool advance to playoffs.

  12. Teams will play and officiate as designated on the pool and bracket schedules. Occasionally, teams will be required officiate their own matches.

  13. All playoffs will be single elimination.

  14. Poor conduct, such as repeated arguing of calls, foul language, verbal abuse, or physical abuse will not be tolerated and will result in forfeiture of set or match or ejection from tournament.

  15. Tournament director has final word on all rules, regulations, and disputes. Director also may move teams into different divisions if deemed necessary.
